UNANUE CASTLE
Unanue Palace or Castle is a National Historic Landmark located at km . 146 of the old road Panamericana Sur , around the town of San Vicente de Cañete , south of Lima, Peru .
Majestic architectural jewel of the Province of Canete . Built by Don Jose Unanue , in memory of his father , the illustrious independence leader Hipolito Unanue . It is located just 5 minutes from the capital city of San Vicente.

The construction of this castle began in 1843 and ended in 1900.
Tourists can see a building in the Gothic style; and entering, tunnels and dungeons meet that exist under the castle, which were used as the first Cañete prison in 1924. According to legend told by the locals, inside the castle has three tunnels. One connects to the Hacienda Montalban to 3 km. The other, with the Hacienda Arona 5 km., And the third Cochahuasi beach 3 km.
